This week we sit down with Roula Elia, Neorcha’s Technical and Back-end Team Leader.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I was born in Beirut, Lebanon. I graduated with a master’s degree in computer sciences and began my career in designing and developing information systems and web applications in ECM, ERP and Freight. In my role at Neorcha, I look after software solutions for hoteliers.
In my free time I like to exercise, I practice all kinds of athletic sports and do body shaping classes. I also like to read books and the latest articles about technology.
What is the best part of your job as a backend team leader?
What I love most about my job is the opportunity to learn new technologies as well as our strong focus on customer satisfaction here at Neorcha. We have a very clear direction as to where we want to go and we work hard to exceed our clients’ expectations and anticipate their needs.
What do you see as the biggest technology trend in hospitality in 2021 and beyond?
Going touchless is the biggest trend in hospitality in 2021 and beyond. With Covid-19, hotels are concerned about providing a safe and comfortable environment for their guests and we see a lot of demand and adoption of new technologies to ensure guest safety, including digital and mobile payments, contactless check-in and check-out and keyless room entry that guests can use on their own mobile devices.
Contactless applications are an excellent way to reduce person to person contact, which has become to help stop the spread of the virus.
Once we can all travel again, what is the first destination/place you want to visit?
I think I might travel to somewhere a bit quiet, peaceful, and relaxing like the Maldives, where I can enjoy the sun and the beach after these tense days caused by the pandemic. Or I might go to Switzerland for its wonderful snowcapped mountains for skiing and mountaineering.
What is your own personal favorite technology gadget when traveling?
Having a smartphone while traveling is the best gadget to have, it is always at a reach, easy to capture memories using photos or videos, move around using maps, call an Uber or contact a friend or relative when needed.
