It’s time to Meet the Team!

This time we sit down with Marwan Harb, Mobile Team leader at Neorcha

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I was born in the city of Batroun in Lebanon and moved with my parents to the United Kingdom when I was two years old. After receiving a triple distinction in Mechanical Engineering from Hull College, I moved back to Lebanon to study Computer Science. Once graduated from university, I gained experience in many different areas of IT and software development including web and mobile and decided to specialise in mobile development. I have been very fortunate to work alongside highly experienced and super skilled people over the years which has really helped me to develop my skills. In my free time I love to do motor sports and regularly take part in karting championships. I also enjoying photography and playing snooker.

What is the best part of your job as a mobile team leader?

Seeing through a project from start to finish is one of the highlights of my job. Having put in the time and effort to then see the fruits of your labour when people use the technology, is a very rewarding feeling.

What do you see as the biggest technology trend in hospitality in 2021 and beyond?

I think the biggest trend in hospitality for 2021 would have to be automation and contactless technology. The vast majority of travellers now use mobile phones and if hotels can create a solution that allows guests to interact with the hotel through their own mobile device, then this will make travel so much easier, safer and more convenient. There are many automation and contactless opportunities for hotels, from online check-in and keyless entry to automated appliances such as blinds, lights and climate controls.

Once we can all travel again, what is the first destination/place you want to visit?

Once we are able to travel again, I would definelty like to visit Sri Lanka, mainly to experience the Sri Lankan culture and heritage.

What is your own personal favorite technology gadget when traveling?

With all the available tools and apps on smartphones, the most vital piece of technology when traveling is my phone followed by a good quality camera!
